01Who this policy covers
This Privacy Policy describes how Vibe Human LLC ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the MaskWise application for macOS ("MaskWise" or "the app") and the website at maskwise.ai ("the website"). By using MaskWise or the website, you agree to the practices described here.
MaskWise is a privacy tool. Its entire purpose is to help you keep sensitive information out of external services. This policy reflects that purpose.
02Our core privacy principle
MaskWise was built so that your information never has to leave your computer. Detection of sensitive data, masking, and restoration all run locally on your Mac. The app does not require an internet connection to perform its core functions, and it does not send your documents or their contents to us or to any third party.
In plain terms: we cannot see your data, because your data never comes to us.
03Information we do not collect
We do not collect, receive, or store any of the following:
- The documents you open in MaskWise.
- The names, numbers, addresses, or other sensitive values that MaskWise detects.
- The masked text or the restored output.
- The responses you receive from any AI tool.
- Behavioral or usage analytics about how you work inside the app.
- Advertising identifiers or tracking data.
On the App Store, the privacy information for MaskWise reflects this as "Data Not Collected."
04Information processed only on your device
To do its job, MaskWise works with your content on your Mac. This processing happens locally and is not transmitted to us:
- Document content. When you open a file, MaskWise reads it in order to detect sensitive values and prepare clean text.
- Detected values and tokens. Each sensitive value is replaced with a structured token such as ⦅PERSON-001-K7⦆. The link between a token and its original value stays on your device.
- The token vault. The mapping between tokens and your real values is encrypted and stored in the macOS Keychain on your Mac, scoped to each document, so MaskWise can restore your values later.
This information remains under your control. It is not sent to our servers, because we do not operate servers that receive it.
05How your data is secured
MaskWise protects the link between a token and its real value with strong, industry-standard encryption, and stores it in the macOS Keychain, which is managed by your operating system. Because processing is local, the security of your data also depends on the security of your own Mac, including your device passcode, account, and disk encryption settings.
06Purchases and subscriptions
Paid plans purchased through the app are processed by Apple, not by us. When you buy or manage a subscription, Apple handles the payment and your billing details under Apple's own privacy policy. We do not receive or store your payment card information.
To unlock paid features, MaskWise checks your purchase status through Apple's standard system on your device. This tells the app whether a feature is available to you. It does not require us to collect personal information about you.
07Support communications
If you choose to contact us by email, we will receive the information you send, such as your email address and the contents of your message. We use this only to respond to you and to improve the app. Email is delivered and stored through a reputable third-party email service acting on our behalf.
Please do not include sensitive personal data, client information, or patient information in support messages. We do not need it to help you, and the purpose of MaskWise is to keep such information off external services.
08Our website
The maskwise.ai website provides information about the app and links to support. Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically process limited technical data, such as IP address and browser type, for the purpose of serving pages securely and reliably. We do not use this information to identify you personally.
The website does not use analytics or advertising trackers, and it loads no third-party scripts or fonts.
09Third-party AI tools you choose
MaskWise is designed to be used alongside external AI tools such as chat assistants. The app masks your sensitive values so that the text you paste into those tools contains tokens rather than real information.
The AI tools themselves are operated by other companies and are not part of MaskWise. When you paste text into an AI tool, that tool's own terms and privacy policy apply to what you submit. You choose which AI tools to use and are responsible for that choice. We encourage you to review the masked text before sharing it, and to ask the AI tool to keep the tokens unchanged so your values restore cleanly.
11Data retention and deletion
Because your documents and their contents stay on your Mac, you control their retention and deletion directly. You can remove them at any time using your normal file and app controls.
- Local data. Tokens, the encrypted vault, and any local app data are removed when you clear the vault, delete the related items in the app, or uninstall MaskWise from your Mac.
- Support email. We retain support correspondence only as long as needed to assist you and to keep reasonable business records, after which it is deleted.

12Children's privacy
MaskWise is a professional tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information through support email, contact us and we will delete it.
13Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, such as the right to access, correct, or delete it, and the right to object to or restrict certain processing. This includes residents of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom under the GDPR, and residents of California under the CCPA and CPRA.
Because MaskWise does not collect your documents or their contents, in most cases we hold little or no personal information about you. Where any rights apply to information we do hold, such as support correspondence, you can exercise them by contacting us. We will not discriminate against you for making a request.
14International users
MaskWise is available through the App Store in many regions. Because the app processes your content locally on your own device, your documents and the information inside them are not transferred across borders by us. Any limited information involved in support email or website hosting may be processed in the country where our service providers operate.
15Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version here and update the effective date at the top of the page. If the changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to make them clear. Your continued use of MaskWise after an update means you accept the revised policy.
